Finding a good sofa retailer or supplier in China can be difficult if you don’t know where to start. The Internet is of course the first port of call, but what you are looking for are China furniture suppliers. The first thing to ask yourself is whether you want Western or Chinese style sofas. Western styled sofas come from France and often have their initials R or C stamped on the piece. They can cost quite a bit more but if you are looking for furniture as a gift it may be worth paying that little bit extra.
Chinese furniture suppliers will usually only stock Chinese style furniture. Some Chinese furniture manufacturers have moved over to producing more modern designs, but most producers still produce traditional design sofas according to local demand. If you need a special kind of sleeper sofa, then it is best to buy it from a supplier who can provide it.
As with any other purchase, the cheapest isn’t always the best. A good supplier will offer a good range so you know exactly what you are buying. Chinese furniture suppliers can also offer great discount prices on large orders. If you can’t afford to buy large volumes of sofas at one time, then an online supplier will be able to offer a great deal.
Chinese furniture suppliers are different to other furniture dealers in a few ways. For starters, they don’t seem to do business over the phone, unless they are just selling to their direct customers. You should never buy your sofas by fax – ask for delivery. You may also notice that some suppliers send out catalogues instead of actual sofas. These will help you get an idea of what styles of furniture are available but won’t give you a full picture of the variety of pieces you can buy.
Most Chinese furniture providers do not take credit cards. This is probably for security reasons but this does mean that you will probably have a better chance of getting a cheaper price if you buy your sofas from them. They also usually do not deliver, so you will have to arrange to have a delivery person come and pick up your sofas. You should expect two to three weeks for delivery. All the same, the internet makes it very easy to compare prices so you should still be able to save a lot of money if you go down this route.
One thing you should be aware of is that you are going to be stuck with whatever supplier you choose – even if they are Chinese. This is because they will not be licensed to import sofas into the UK. This means that you are buying products that are either illegal or simply not up to standard. However, there are options out there if you look hard enough.
